Day 13
Day 14
Day ElevenEinstein once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. What does Einstein know?
You can say yesterdays’ portrait session didn’t go over so well, so we decide to give it another go today. Viv and I go over the shots we want to capture. I set up a black backdrop. Viv nurses Connor to sleep, but once we move him, he wakes up. He’s a very light sleeper. Here we go again. Viv is behind the camera and starts clicking away. I move and shift Connor in different positions. I lift Connor up over my head and warm moisture starts dripping down my arm. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what’s going to happen next. It starts to rain pee. Technically, a different result.
Shot of the day. Our little monkey. Great work Viv!
Day Ten
Why pay for a professional newborn portrait photographer when I can just do it myself? Newborn portraits are easiest when babies are well fed and fast asleep. When newborns are knocked it, you can position them any way you want. How hard can this be?
I put the rug in the dryer to heat it up and position the space heater by where I plan to shoot. I change Connors’ diaper and swaddle him without a onesie. Viv feeds him for as long as he will eat. He should be asleep now, yet his eyes are still open. We have a doctors’ appointment in a few hours, so we have a pretty small window to get this done. We decide to just go for it. I place him on the carpet and the only position he does not squirm around is on his back. A few moments after he is on his back, I snap a few shots and a big mischievous grin comes across his face. Awesome. I press the shutter on my camera. Click! Click! then comes a Blaaaaaht! It’s a wet juicy fart. Uh oh. Wet juicy farts always mean poop. This one is no exception. Seedy mustard poop all over the carpet. I think this is a wrap.
shortest. portrait. session. ever.
Day Eight
I read that babies aren’t supposed to know how to smile until they are about two months old, but I swear we’ve already seen Connor smile several times. You can call it muscle reflex or whatever you want, I call it adorable.
